Studies)拉席博士(Cecilia Laschi)則正開發能模擬章魚動作的軟Q機器人,機器觸手使用形狀記憶合金製成的管線彈簧控制。這些易於彎曲,但在加熱後可恢復原有形狀的管線彈簧以不同的分布來控制觸手的動作,部分順著觸手長度分布以模擬章魚觸手的伸縮及彎曲,其他則由內部中心向外做放射狀分布以控制觸手的粗細,經由馬達帶動可使觸手做波浪狀的動作,甚至可以捲住人的手掌。
